Brett Comer, MD, MBA, FARS

Dr. Comer is a fellowship-trained rhinology and anterior skull base surgeon, trained to take care of basic and advanced disorders of the nose, sinuses, and anterior skull base. His clinic performs allergy assessment and testing. He performs in-office procedures such as steroid-eluting stent placement, and is trained in traditional sinus surgery, balloon dilation of the sinuses, and also performs balloon dilation of the eustachian tubes. In addition, he is trained in endoscopic skull base surgery to address issues such as cerebrospinal fluid leaks, tumors, polyps, and other conditions. Dr. Comer has been the UK Otolaryngology Residency Program Director for UK Otolaryngology since 2016 and Vice Chair of Education since 2024.  He is deeply committed to resident education and helping residents and medical students reach their fullest potential both professionally and personally. He started the CORONA initiative in otolaryngology resident education during the COVID-19 pandemic.  CORONA is an online educational collaboration of over 80 faculty from more than 50 otolaryngology programs and thousands of learners during the height of COVID. CORONA is internationally known and has resulted in hundreds of thousands of recorded video views to date. In 2023, Dr. Comer completed his MBA at the University of Kentucky as a way to augment his own professional growth as well as the professional business growth of UK Otolaryngology residents and students.  Dr. Comer has published in all of the major otolaryngology journals, he has written book chapters, he enjoys research on clinical outcomes, and has been quoted by multiple national news sources and publications.  Dr. Comer is the current Chair of the Otolaryngology Program Directors' Organization (OPDO) as well as the American Rhinological Society’s (ARS) Bylaws Committee.
