Students face challenges today that generations before them couldn’t even dream of. From using technology in the classroom to the pressures they feel from social media, the college experience today is monumentally different than it used to be.

Students come to college to express themselves in a way that they may have always wanted to, but never thought they could. With open hearts and minds, they leave their routine they’ve always known, ready to find themselves – whatever that means to them.

A couple dozen bikers raised about $3,000 on Saturday during the fifth annual Alzheimer’s Ride for a Cure.

Arriving at the Sheriff’s Posse facility on Witty Lane, the route had not yet been released, and the bikers gathered in a small group to hear the directions of where they’d be headed.

First, they were going to Princeton, where they’d hang a left and work their way over to Land Between the Lakes for a stop at the welcome center on the Woodlands Trace National Scenic Byway, commonly referred to as just “The Trace.”

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 3, 2016) –  Because Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the leading cause of dementia, many people use the two terms interchangeably. But inadequate blood flow to the brain due to microinfarcts, mini-strokes, or strokes is a hallmark of a disease called Vascular Cognitive Impairment and Dementia (VCID). VCID is the second most common cause of dementia, and the two are not mutually exclusive – researchers estimate that 40-60% of Alzheimer’s disease patients also have VCID.

A recently published a report on the failing water system of Martin County in Eastern Kentucky finds that almost half of the county’s residents cannot afford their current water service. Residents and county advocates are now asking for a termination in rate increases, as they are already paying some of the highest water bills in the state.
