On June 16, a virtual “Trauma Informed Care Summit” was held in partnership between Save the Children, the Kentucky River Health Consortium and University of Kentucky Center of Excellence in Rural Health. Among the topics discussed in the summit were how different risk factors and life choices can impact the development of a child.

The University of Kentucky Center for Appalachian Research in Environmental Sciences (UK-CARES), in partnership with the Center of Excellence in Rural Health (CERH), recently announced the nominees and the winner of the 2021 Community Engagement Award in Environmental Health.

The UK-ADRC Development Project Program is a newly established pilot program supported by our NIH Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (UK-ADRC) grant P30 AG072946. The program is aimed at junior
investigators (postdoctoral fellows, assistant professors, senior research associates, or clinical fellows) and will provide pilot grant support for research in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and related dementias. Awards are intended to provide seed funding for novel hypotheses that lead to national-level funding of an expanded research plan based on the pilot work.

After a thorough search, the College of Medicine is excited to announce that Rebecca Dutch, PhD, has been selected to lead the college's research efforts as vice dean for research. James Geddes, PhD, previously served in this position but has entered into a phased retirement to focus on his research.
