A Frankfort, Ky., native, Josh Karsner originally planned to attend the UK College of Medicine’s main campus in Lexington. Near the start of medical school, he learned about the college’s new regional campus in Bowling Green that would offer the same curriculum but smaller class sizes, as well as a chance to pave the way for future physicians-in-training in western Kentucky.

UK Sophomore Isha Chauhan Named Goldwater Scholar
The University of Kentucky Office of Nationally Competitive Awards has announced that UK sophomore Isha Chauhan, from LaGrange, Kentucky, has been awarded a Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship.
The Goldwater Scholarship is the preeminent undergraduate award of its kind in the fields of natural sciences, engineering and mathematics. Chauhan is among 417 students nationwide selected to receive the honor, from an estimated pool of over 5,000 students.

The University of Kentucky Department of Surgery and UK HealthCare are pleased to welcome David A. Rodeberg, MD, FACS, a nationally celebrated Pediatric Surgeon, to its providers.
In addition to his surgical practice, Dr. Rodeberg has accepted the role of Division Chief of Pediatric Surgery. He will take the place of Dr. John Draus, the outgoing division chief and colleague who played an instrumental role in Dr. Rodeberg's recruitment. Emmanuel Dike-Udensi Prepared to Be ‘Socially Conscious, Culturally Humble’ Doctor
When Emmanuel Dike-Udensi was a first-year student, his peers in third and fourth year would always give him the same warning – that medical school goes by quickly. But Emmanuel was skeptical.
“I didn’t believe them,” he said with a laugh. “Back then, I had so much to study, I couldn’t imagine that.”
Now, as Emmanuel approaches the end of medical school, he said reflecting on the past four years – and how fast they have gone by – is surreal.
