The University’s new international travel medical insurance and evacuation policy, which you likely heard about in a message from the Provost last spring, has gone live and is now available for faculty and staff members engaging in UK business overseas. The policy is offered to faculty and staff as well as to accompanying guests, at no cost. In order to facilitate coverage under the policy, and so that UK can liaise with its international travelers in the event of an emergency, the UK International Center has just released the University’s first international travel registry.

The system has been designed to be as simple and easy to use as possible, and it should take no more than 5 to 10 minutes for an international traveler to register. Registering will provide the information on travelers that UK needs, at an institutional level, to provide the best service and highest level of protection that we can offer our to staff who travel abroad.

The registry can be found at https://ihss.uky.edu. Please note that a traveler can register him or herself, or that a proxy can do it on his or her behalf. It would be ideal if this link could be integrated into the travel approval processes in your unit.

If you have any questions whatsoever, please don’t hesitate to contact UK’s Manager of International Health, Safety & Security Jason Hope, at jasonhope@uky.edu.
