Dr. Williams Honored as the 2018-19 University Research Professors
Dr. Williams was among 13 UK faculty who were presented with the 2018-19 University Research Professorship Award. This award was presented to faculty who have demonstrated excellence in research and creative work that address scientific, social, cultural, economic, and health challenges in Kentucky and around the world. "Congratulations to Dr. Mark Williams, selected as a 2018-2019 University Research Professor. Dr. Williams is a highly accomplished faculty member who is very deserving of this honor. Dr. Williams was recruited to UK in 2014 and serves as the Vice Chair for the Department of Internal Medicine, Chief of the Division of Hospital Medicine and is the Director for the Center for Health Services Research. Mark has more than 120 publications, including many in top-tier journals such as Archives of Internal Medicine, British Medical Journal, New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of the American Medical Association. He is the Founding Editor of the Journal of Hospital Medicine. Dr. Williams has obtained >$30M in extramural funding in his career, and >$20M since being on faculty at UK. Much of his research has focused on quality care delivery and implementation science such as the national Project ACHIEVE and the local Kentucky Consortium for Accountable Health Communities. Beyond these amazing accomplishments, Dr. Williams is well known and regarded for his mentoring and collaboration with others. " -Dr David Moliterno
