Reena Kumari

As a Scientist in Dr. John C. Gensel's laboratory at the University of Kentucky, I lead research investigating the role of sex as a biological variable in spinal cord injury (SCI). My work examines how sex chromosomes, gonadal hormones, and immune cell responses shape neuroinflammation, tissue pathology, and functional recovery after SCI. By integrating immunological, molecular, and behavioral approaches, I aim to uncover mechanisms underlying sex-specific differences in SCI progression and identify potential targets for personalized therapeutic strategies.
