Biography and Education
Biography
Rony Aouad, MD earned his medical degree and completed his residency at St. Joseph University School of Medicine in Beirut, Lebanon. Dr. Aouad completed a fellowship in Rhinology at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, MD and a fellowship in Head & Neck Oncology/Skull Base Surgery at the University of California, Davis in Sacramento, CA. He currently serves on numerous committees for the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, The North American Skull Base Society and other professional organizations. Dr. Aouad holds the position of Associate Professor with the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Kentucky and specializes in cranial base surgery, head and neck cancer, laryngeal cancer (throat cancer), salivary gland cancer, sinus cancer, thyroid and parathyroid surgery and thyroid cancer. He’s authored and co-authored several manuscripts published in peer-reviewed journals, and recently co-authored a chapter in “Orofacial Pain: Guidelines for Assessment, Diagnosis, and Management, 7th Edition.” Dr. Aouad is actively involved in resident teaching and is a mentor to many residents and medical students. He is involved in research that includes his interest in helping the head and neck cancer patient population with swallowing and speech problems after radiation and chemotherapy treatments.
