Research

My laboratory is focused on understanding cellular mechanisms driving organ-specific cancer metastasis and therapeutic strategies to target metastatic tumors in parenchymal organs. To study this, we have created a variety of pre-clinical models of lung and liver metastasis and use these to understand the intracellular signaling pathways which facilitate metastatic colonization and test therapeutic approaches against established metastatic tumors.

Current therapeutic strategies explored in the laboratory are drug delivery into metastatic tumors with polymeric or RNA nanoparticles and DNA-damaging combination therapies. Our team approach at targeting metastatic tumors is multidisciplinary with the aim to ultimately translate our discoveries into effective cancer therapies.
