About Luiza Goldemberg, MD
Career Goals: Still figuring it out, but I’m leaning toward Cardiology (especially congenital heart disease) or Palliative Care. I see myself in an academic setting, combining inpatient and outpatient work while also teaching and mentoring.
Favorite restaurants and coffee shops in Lexington: I’m still exploring, but so far Lexington Native Café has been my favorite spot.
Favorite place to grab a drink in Lexington: Honestly… my backyard!
Favorite thing about living in Lexington: The hospitality here has been amazing. People are so friendly, and I love how easy it is to enjoy nature and the outdoors. Even though there’s no beach, the lakes and rivers make up for it. For me, Lexington has the perfect mix of city energy and countryside peace.
Go-to weekend getaway: Cincinnati, Henderson River, or pretty much any river nearby.
Dream non-medical career: Something that mixes my two loves—traveling and dogs.
Learner Summary
What do you like about your program?
From day one, everyone at UK has been so warm and welcoming that I instantly felt at home. Dr. Stewart, Dr. Wimberly, the chiefs, Lean, and the faculty go above and beyond to make sure residents are supported and connected. What really excites me is being surrounded by so many Med-Peds trained physicians—I know I’ll learn a lot from them and have great discussions. For me, UK is the perfect place to grow, with the chance to care for diverse patients, learn from complex cases, and be part of a community that values both high-tech medicine and human connection.
What are your hobbies?
I love spending time with my dogs, traveling, hanging out with friends, discovering new restaurants, and dancing whenever I get the chance.
