Biography
Dr. Luis F. Acosta is a board-certified diagnostic and interventional radiologist at the University of Kentucky, where he completed both his residency and fellowship training and now serves as Assistant Professor of Radiology.
He specializes in minimally invasive, image-guided procedures for both adult and pediatric patients. Dr. Acosta has led the expansion of pediatric interventional radiology services at Kentucky Children’s Hospital, enabling children across the state to receive advanced IR care close to home — eliminating the need for families to travel long distances.
He also works with the UK Hemangioma and Vascular Malformation Clinic, the only multidisciplinary program of its kind in Kentucky, delivering image-guided treatment for complex vascular malformations.
Dr. Acosta’s expertise includes the management of benign and malignant hepatobiliary conditions, with a focus on both primary and metastatic liver tumors. He offers a full range of advanced locoregional therapies, providing individualized, comprehensive treatment tailored to each patient.
His practice also encompasses advanced embolization procedures, from complex elective interventions to emergent, life-saving treatments for massive hemorrhage in critically ill patients.
Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. Acosta is committed to patient-centered care, education, and interdisciplinary collaboration. He is actively involved in research, as well as the mentorship of medical students, residents and fellows.
