Biography and Education

Biography

I am a gastroenterologist at the University of Kentucky HealthCare with specialized training in advanced endoscopy. I care for patients with a wide range of digestive conditions, with a focus on complex pancreatic and biliary diseases.

My approach to care is centered on clarity and trust. I believe patients should understand their condition, the available options, and the reasoning behind each recommendation. I take time to listen, answer questions, and ensure that every patient feels informed and comfortable with their care plan.

I perform advanced procedures such as ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound to diagnose and treat conditions involving the pancreas, bile ducts, and gastrointestinal tract. These techniques allow us to often treat problems in a minimally invasive way and avoid more extensive interventions.

I am committed to providing thoughtful, evidence based care while keeping the experience as straightforward as possible. My goal is to combine advanced expertise with a practical, patient focused approach so that you receive care that is both high quality and easy to navigate.

Research

My research focuses on improving outcomes for patients with pancreatic and complex gastrointestinal diseases through clinically relevant and data driven approaches.

A central area of my work is pancreatitis, including acute and chronic disease. I study patterns of care, complications, and factors that influence outcomes across different patient populations. This includes examining how access to care and regional differences impact disease burden, particularly in underserved communities.

I am also interested in the use of large national databases and real world data to better understand healthcare utilization, treatment patterns, and gaps in care. This work helps identify opportunities to deliver more effective, efficient, and equitable care.

In addition, my research explores advanced endoscopic therapies and their role in managing pancreatic and biliary conditions. The goal is to refine procedural approaches and improve patient selection to achieve better outcomes with minimally invasive techniques.

My broader aim is to translate research findings into practical changes in clinical care, ensuring that advances in knowledge lead to meaningful improvements in patient outcomes.
