About Kristy Deep, MD, MA
Kristy S. Deep, MD, MA completed all of her clinical training at UK including an academic medicine fellowship with a Master's degree in Educational Policy and Evaluation. She later studied Bioethics at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Kristy was the founding medical director of the UK Palliative Care and Hospice program in 2008. After serving as Internal Medicine Residency program director from 2013-2026, she is now the Senior Vice Chair for Academic Affairs and in this role supports all the educational and faculty affairs functions for the department of medicine. Her academic interests are educational evaluation and remediation, as well as faculty development for clinician educators.
Education
I completed all of my medical training at the University of Kentucky. After an academic medicine fellowship, I joined the faculty in 2007. My clinical work is as a hospitalist and my areas of interest are doctor-patient communication, quality improvement and resident education. As a native Kentuckian, I am committed to UK and developing a health system that will provide excellent patient care as well as train the next generation of physicians for our state.
