Research
Over the past 16 years my work has focused on measuring glutamate dynamics in various brain regions in relation to age-related changes in the CNS and new approaches to treat Parkinson's disease (PD). We have also measured glutamate dysregulation during status epilepticus, after traumatic brain injuries and in models of ADHD. Recently we have been focusing on using optogenetics to modulate glutamate neurotransmission during epileptogensis in a kindle rat model.
I’m also an integral part of various centers e.g. the Center for Microelectrode Technology, GLP Neuroscience Center and the newly formed Brain Restoration center which focuses on translational research.
