Why did you choose the University of Kentucky?

I spent a month in my 4th year of med school doing the Triple Board rotation at UK. I felt so welcomed by the residents and faculty and was excited about the diverse opportunities and practice settings they worked in. I'm from Michigan, so being within driving distance of family appealed to me, and the small city/big college town vibe of Lexington reminded me of home.

What do you like about your program?

We like to get out and do things together! Trivia nights, karaoke, and tailgates are some favorite ways we regularly hang out outside of work.
Before starting residency, I didn't realize what a difference being in a small to midsize program makes. Within months I felt like I had met all of my co-residents, made many friends, and was starting to know or at least recognize a lot of the attendings, which makes calling a consultant or starting a new rotation much less stressful!

What are your hobbies?

Anything that gets me outside; hiking, camping, volleyball, ultimate frisbee. My porch gets really great sunshine in the afternoon, so after a busy day I will be relaxing there in my hammock, reading a book.
