The University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital is one of the nation’s top “Hospitals and Health Systems with Great Oncology Programs” according to Becker’s Hospital Review.
The health care industry trade publication recognized UK Markey Cancer Center, whose clinical programs are integrated with UK Chandler Hospital, among oncology programs at the forefront of cancer treatment and research.
Markey Cancer Center is Kentucky’s only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, offering patients access to more than 300 clinical trials and advanced therapies unavailable elsewhere in the region.
The recognition from Becker’s Hospital Review highlights institutions that lead the nation in advancing cancer care through cutting-edge clinical trials and groundbreaking research. Selection criteria included national rankings from organizations including U.S. News & World Report, where Markey consistently ranks among the top 50 cancer centers nationally.
Markey has been an NCI-designated cancer center since 2013, and is one of only 57 cancer centers in the country to earn the NCI’s Comprehensive Cancer Center designation. The designation gives Markey patients access to the latest treatments and clinical trials offered only at NCI centers. In 2024, Markey was ranked No. 36 in U.S. News & World Report’s national ranking for cancer care, making it the eighth consecutive year Markey has been ranked in the U.S. News Top 50.
