Last Thursday, the UK College of Medicine MD+NBA Club clinched an impressive second-place finish in the University’s intramural basketball tournament. Showcasing remarkable teamwork and resilience, the team of medical students made it all the way to the championship game before falling short in a thrilling 36-39 finish.

Their journey through the tournament was defined by intense competition, especially during their Elite Eight matchup. The White Coats, the club’s team name during the tournament, emerged victorious in a dramatic double-overtime victory, securing a coveted spot in the Final Four. With another hard-fought win there, they punched their ticket to the championship game. While the final result may not have been what they hoped for, their runner-up finish is certainly something to be proud of.

Beyond the competition, the MD+NBA club brings medical students together for some much-needed fun. Between the long hours of studying, clinical rotations, and everything in between, basketball offers a way to relieve stress but also a chance to build friendships, foster teamwork, and develop leadership skills that will serve them well in their future medical careers.
