As National Internship Awareness Month concludes, UKNow spotlights former CHET Graduate Research Assistant and current sociology Ph.D. student Jimmy Robinson. Robinson’s recent internship with Fayette Alliance, supported by the Kentucky Graduate Internship Scholarship, allowed him to translate academic research into real-world impact. He developed an adaptable evaluation tool for the nonprofit’s Grow Smart Academy, enhancing community education on land use and sustainability. Through this experience, Robinson gained valuable insight into nonprofit and civic engagement work while contributing lasting resources for the organization. His work exemplifies how graduate students can leverage academic skills to benefit local communities.
