Dr. David C Booth is the recipient of this year's Kentucky ACC Honorable Maestro Award. This is the highest honor awarded by KY ACC, and definitely well deserved. He has been affectionately referred to as “Papa Bear” for decades of fellows, and has been dedicated and passionate in providing care to patients for more than 40 years! We all know that whenever one of his patients ended up in the hospital, he would want to know and would visit them. Whenever we need anything, he would step up to help us. Over the years, he has been the advance heart failure/transplant cardiologist, pulmonary hypertension cardiologist and sports cardiologist before these subspecialties ever existed. He has served as the Interim Chief of UK Cardiology 3 times, and the Director of the Cath lab. Dr. Booth has also been one of the longest serving chief of cardiology at the VA. Aside from being a leader at UK, he is also internationally known for his involvement in various multi-center clinic trials including the VA Cooperative and COURAGE.
