FUNDING OPPORTUNITY

                       

The NIH Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) on Obesity and Cardiovascular Diseases, in collaboration with the Markey Cancer Center and the Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences (CCTS) announce the availability of limited funds to support pilot projects focused on research examining inter-relationships between obesity and cancer.  Small, well-defined projects which will lead to measured outcomes, such as critical preliminary data for a grant submission will be considered.

Funding Amount:  

Individual project awards, up to $25,000 in total direct costs will be made on a competitive basis. Additional funding for these projects may be available from the CCTS upon demonstration  of adequate progress towards the aims of the COBRE project.

 Eligibility

Eligibility is limited to full-time regular, special and clinical title faculty as well as full time research faculty of the University of Kentucky and affiliated institutions. Investigators in training including residents, post-doctoral fellows, and clinical fellows are not eligible to serve as PIs but may be co-investigators.

Letter of Intent due: January 31, 2013

 

Letters of Intent (LOI) and Biosketch (BS) in NIH format will be solicited from faculty on UK campus . A one-page letter of Intent (LOI) should be submitted to: elodie.elayi@uky.edu. The letter should be in the general form of a specific aims page.  After an initial review, applications that are chosen for further consideration will be invited to present a more detailed version of the project aims and design to a peer review committee.
