The University of Kentucky Provost Robert S. DiPaola named Danelle Stevens-Watkins, Ph.D., acting dean of the College of Education, effective Jan. 4, 2023. Stevens-Watkins is a professor in the Department of Educational, School, and Counseling Psychology, the university's associate vice president for research, diversity and inclusion, and CHET core faculty. This is a historic moment for the College of Education and the University of Kentucky, as Stevens-Watkins is the first woman of color to serve in this role for the College of Education.
Stevens-Watkins is a licensed health service psychologist and clinical scientist. Her research is focused broadly on improving health outcomes for Black Americans. To date, Dr. Stevens-Watkins has secured over $8 million in grants and contract funding as principal investigator with funding from the National Institutes of Health for the past decade.
