UK HealthCare’s Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center (BBDC) and Healthy Kentucky Initiative are excited to help community members kick off the month of October with the ‘Be Healthy Bash.’ The free festival is set to take place at the Oleika Shriners Temple on Southland Drive in Lexington from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., Oct 2.
The event will focus on your entire well-being with information and activities around nutrition, fitness and emotional wellness. This family-friendly event is held in collaboration with the Lexington Farmers' Market at Southland and many other UK HealthCare, University of Kentucky and community partners.
“Part of good diabetes education is healthy eating and being active, but also involves healthy coping skills and risk prevention,” said Kristen Stakelin, MD, medical director at BBDC. “The ‘Be Healthy Bash’ has all of those things and more! We have had this event on our wish list for a few years and are so happy to have so many great health and wellness, and community partners making the bash possible.”
Activities will include health screenings, health and wellness resources, cooking demonstrations, taste testing, emotional wellness activities, and physical activities and games. Additionally, there will be inflatables (both kid and adult friendly), a smoothie bike, meet and greet with UK’s Wally Cat, live music and more.
Participation is free and open to the public. Sign in at the registration table to receive Farmers' Market vegetable vouchers. For more information click here.
