Please join us in congratulating Caroline Smith (a member of Jessica Blackburn's lab), who has been appointed to a 3-year term on the Associate Member Council (AMC) for the American Association of Cancer Research! (AACR) The Associate Member Council serves as the leadership body of the associate members of the American Association of Cancer Research. AACR is the world's largest cancer organization, with over 13,000 associate members. Their members include graduate students, medical students, and postdoctoral fellows enrolled in educational programs leading to careers in cancer research all around the world! Members of the council, who serve 3-year terms, develop programs that address the needs of early-career scientists. The council also acts as an advisory body to the AACR on issues for future cancer researchers. Caroline was one of only 4 new council members chosen this year in a competitive application process. This is a huge honor – and very well deserved!
