Chrissie Adams, certified nurse-midwife (CNM) in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, has been named UK HealthCare’s 2026 Certified Nurse Midwife of the Year. The recognition was part of UK HealthCare’s celebration of National Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Week, held Sept. 21-25, 2026.
Adams practices at the UK Midwife Clinic and was honored for her dedication to compassionate, patient-centered care and her contributions to the midwifery team.
“Certified nurse-midwives bring a unique combination of clinical expertise, compassion and advocacy to the care of our patients,” said Emily DeFranco, D.O., John W. Greene Endowed Professor and chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology. “Chrissie exemplifies these qualities through the care she provides every day. We are proud to have her on our team and grateful for the difference she makes for our patients and department.”
National APP Week is celebrated annually during the fourth week of September to recognize the contributions of advanced practice providers, including physician assistants/associates, nurse practitioners, certified registered nurse anesthetists, clinical nurse specialists, certified nurse-midwives and certified anesthesiologist assistants. APPs are nationally certified and state licensed to diagnose, treat and provide follow-up care for patients.
An APP of the Year was selected in each provider area, with nominations reviewed and scored by a panel of judges.
