We are pleased to announce that the SRAS is fully staffed.

Two new GPSs joined the SRAS last month.  Drew Speer started on March 16.  He previously worked for nearly five years at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, most recently as the Grants Administrator for their National Children’s Study federal contract.  He has a Master’s degree in Health Service Administration, also from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.  Michael Miles started on March 23.  Michael has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Morehead State University.  He has held two AmeriCorps assignments, including as a Foundation Relations Assistant with the Christian Appalachian Project, and with the Community Action Council, serving as a Volunteer Recruiter and supporting various administration functions for RSVP.

A third GPS vacancy will be filled by Lauren Brown on April 13.  Lauren has experience in grant administration with Kentucky state government and also worked for several years in the Student Financial Aid office at UK.  She has a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management.

Training will be continuing for the next several weeks and then each new GPS will be given their own assignment.

Mary Gay Whitmer will join the SRAS on April 27, assuming the College Grant Manager Pre-Award position.  Many of you know Mary Gay as a Senior Research Administrator in OSPA, where she’s been for the past five and one-half years.  She has a JD from the University of Kentucky and holds the Certified Research Administrator designation.

And, finally, on May 4, Sandra Holley will start as a Post-Award Grant Analyst.  Sandra is currently a CGO for the College of Engineering, and was with Engineering for many years in other roles before becoming their CGO. She has experience in both pre-award and post-award grants management and recently received the Certified Research Administrator designation.
