Program Curriculum

The goal of the residency program curriculum is to provide residents with the experience, knowledge, and surgical skills necessary to enter general obstetrics and gynecology practice after four years of residency training. The residency curriculum is structured to meet the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG) Educational Objectives, 9th Edition.

Subspecialty Services

The curriculum allows time for exploration of subspecialty services such as maternal fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery and gynecologic oncology.

Rotations

Each year, the resident will have five-week rotations through various services. As the resident progresses through the residency, the resident will have more independence and responsibility leading up to the fourth year, chief resident. The chief resident will have sufficient independent operating experience to become technically competent as well as enough total responsibility for management of patients to ensure proficiency in the diagnostic and treatment skills required of a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology in office and hospital practice.

Sample rotations for each respective year are given below. Residents maintain continuity clinics throughout their four years of residency.
