CESB is equipped for analysis of polar and non-polar metabolites including macromolecules (proteins, complex lipids, complex carbohydrates and nucleic acids) in terms of quantification and stable isotope incorporation via metabolic activity.

The major analytical capabilities are ultrahigh resolution mass spectrometry with direct infusion or ion chromatography (separate positively charged and negatively charged analytes), ICP MS (for elemental analysis) with laser ablation imaging, high resolution NMR and MRI, and reverse phase protein array analysis (RPPI) for proteins, which are described below (see relevant tabs)

More specialized capabilities are available for analyzing metabolic incorporation of stable isotopes into glycogen, proteins and nucleic acids via NMR and MS, that are described under Services/Sample Handling.
