Prepare and Support HIV/AIDS Health Care Providers

What We Do: We conduct targeted, multidisciplinary education and training programs for health care providers treating persons living with HIV/AIDS. KY AETC serves as one of the U.S. Public Health Service designated AIDS Education and Training Centers for health care providers in Kentucky. We work with federal, state, or local organizations to ensure that Kentucky's health care professionals are optimally prepared and supported for dealing with the ongoing HIV epidemic.

We offer comprehensive didactic and skill-building programs led by expert clinicians and other health care professionals. These skill-building workshops are available throughout the state. Examples of skill-building workshops include:

  • HIV prevention and testing
  • Taking a sexual history
  • Fundamentals of HIV prevention counseling
  • HIV screening
  • STD screening

  • HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)
  • HIV post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP)

Technical Assistance

Organizational technical assistance is available to clinics, practices, and organizations to build local capacity in training and clinical care. It may range from a single training event or consultation or may form a long-term relationship with the KY AETC and a clinic or agency. Goals of technical assistance include providing resources, guidance, and assistance to improve HIV service delivery and performance on an organizational level. Our technical assistance program can assist with change in organizational infrastructure and service delivery.
