Overview

Our department fosters education, research and provides superb clinical and surgical training. Fellows actively participate in teaching residents and medical students. Our state-of-the-art facilities in our new building serve patients from a broad area of eastern Kentucky.

The University of Kentucky Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences currently offers five fellowship opportunities.

Glaucoma Fellowship

The University of Kentucky Glaucoma Fellowship offers an immersive clinical and surgical experience, with opportunities for teaching and research.

Medical Retina Fellowship

The fellowship takes place in our state-of-the-art clinic in the retina, uveitis, and ophthalmic-genetics services with the supervision and training of eight full-time faculty members.

Surgical Retina Fellowship

The fellowship in retinal and vitreous diseases will provide an advanced level of competence in the diagnosis and management of medical and surgical retina and vitreous diseases.

Oculofacial Plastic and Orbital Fellowship

This 2-year fellowship will provide the fellow with vast opportunities to provide clinical and surgical management of functional and cosmetic plastic and reconstructive patient issues as well as to work cooperatively with other services in maximizing patient outcomes.
